Steps you should take to register your Warmblood foal
- When you collect your mare who is scanned "in foal" make sure you get a
service certificate. This gives the dates on which your mare was served and
the stallion. It not only enables you to register the foal but, should your mare prove to be empty and a live foal guarantee was given, it is a proof that your mare had been served.
- When your foal is born send the service certificate to the registrar who will give you the foal's registration number and a branding slip. Get the Vet to sign this at branding and return it to the registrar together with the registration fee.
- If your mare is collected by commercial transport ask for the service certificate to be posted to you. This is then a catch 22 situation as the Stud manager has a right to withhold it until you pay the service fee and you can withhold payment until you get the certificate! However make sure that the stallion owner knows that you require the certificate and you should receive it within a few days.
