Level 4 - Dreamworld MH (Dream Boy/Weltmeyer) again for Casey and Matthews Hanoverians
Reserve champion was Amarjah (Anamour/Ramzes II) for Sharlene Storey bred, ridden and trained by her. (and this I have to say was gained in difficult circumstances to say the least near the end of the whole competition!)

Level 5 - reserve champion is Animation (Anamour) once again for Casey Johnson

Level 6/7 - Abendstern (Anamour/Aberlou xx) for Charmian Pearson-White Breeder Linda Hunt. The mare is becoming quite established in her work at this level now.

It has to be said that Casey Johnson had a remarkable weekend overall - she won 2 championships and 1 reserve championship PLUS 2 Musical freestyles and reserve in the third with the three horses. She does the musical compositions mainly on her own as well with the stud's own computer programme to compose these.

Horse of the Year

Stand out performances here were by Vancouver (Voltaire II- Gina by Genius and bred by Mary Wilson) and Senator VDL. Vancouver started out his career as an eventer ridden by Britta Pedersen and the ride was taken over by Oliver Edgecumbe after Britta's accident. What a combination it has proven to be! Vancouver won the Grand Prix at Masterton A&P and had his first starts in the World Cup this season, finishing 5th in Dannevirke and 3rd and 5th in two World Cup rounds in Gisborne. He also won the Puissance at Horse of the Year at 2.05m. Senator VDL (Corland / Falonie) won the prestigious Norwood Cup - the biggest win of his career to date for rider Ike Unsworth. Tessa Williams and Double O Eight took out both the Show Hunter title classes for the second year running.

Others to stand out in the North are Vicki Wilson's pair of Wurlitzer (Grand Cavalier/Kola xx - Des Lowe's jumping mare and also dam of eventer Waitangi Jetsream) and Witheze. Both did well at the North Island Champs and again at Kumeu. Wurlitzer was bred by Lisa Blackbourn.

Aerodynamic (Dynamit) has also shown some for Sandra Stanford with a win and 2 thirds at Kumeu.

Kahurangi Vin Rouge (Valiant) placed for Edward Bullock, as did Vespera (Voltaire II) for Christine Cornege.

Senator VDL recently won the Grand Prix at Franklin A&P grounds with the mare Sereendom VDL taking 5th place.

In the Sporthorse Classes in Gisborne, there was a good showing of warmblood horses in the various age groups for "most suitable for dressage" and all the winners were warmbloods - Whittaker MVSH (Marlon / Indoctro, 4 year), Cristabella (Carbine, 5 year), Cheleken Heidi (Ramirez, 6 year and Daylight LS (Distelfink, 7 year). The eventual Champion and Reserve went to Daylight LS and Whittaker MVSH respectively.
