Robert Steele and Gospel reign supreme

9 November, 2005

Following the second round in the World Cup series held in Cambridge over the weekend, Robert Steele and Gospel (Jaguar) again emerged the winners after a faultless display of jumping.

Gospel was the first to go and with masterful riding by Robert produced a third clear round in a good time. My Golliwog was not able to match this performance and had to settle for 2nd place after taking two rails. Gospel now has a convincing lead in the World Cup series.

The course was at the required standard for a World Cup qualifying competition and Certificate of Capability with heights up to 1.60m and including a 4.2m water jump. The selectors were also on the lookout for World Equestrian Games possibles.

Warmbloods in opening round of NZ World Cup Series

posted October 25, 2005

The World Cup series is held over five rounds, with the New Zealand final in Auckland in January. The series winner has the opportunity to represent New Zealand at the world final, which this season is being held in Kuala Lumpa in April 2006.

Steady rain in Hastings since the afternoon before did not deter Robert Steele and GOSPEL (Jaguar) as they managed the fastest time in the second round to take the win from Maurice Beatson. There were no clear rounds in the first round. Both riders had carried four faults through to the 2nd round. In 6th place was Catherine Cameron riding Kahurangi Tardak (Valiant).

Next World Cup competition will be held in Cambridge over the first weekend in November, followed by Tauranga at the end of November. Rounds 4 and 5 will be held at Taupo Christmas show in mid December, with the final at Ti Papa at the end of January.
