Another Shower
A great achievement for all the 'ladies' involved! Well done and we look to see more Warmblood stock elevated to Principle Studbook Status.
The following stallions are considered Principle Studbook Stallions – by virtue of their own performance or that of their progeny.

STALLION POST SCRIPT
We thought it might be interesting to remind you of some of the better performed
horses that the older stallions have produced to gain them their elevated status. It is
by no means complete! (So anyone can feel free to remind us of
some good horses that were out there).

Bronwyn Paul reports of the success of her lovely colt foal Grey Flute (Holme Park Flute x Grey Invasion [Lowenherz]), or "Fluke" as he is known at home (pictured at right). On May 5 he travelled to Hamilton for the North Island All Breed Foal Show with great results. He won the Warmblood Foal Class and the Saddle Hack Class, 3rd in the Saddle Hunter and 4th Best Presented. Excellent results ... well done!
The Worldwide PB horse Weltmeister AF (bred by Louise Dunn at Adlou Farm) gained a third placing in the Four Year Old Young Dressage Horse class at Taupo. This was such a very proud moment for owner Jennifer Sim from South Auckland who considers herself "just an amateur". He also has won the AMDG Novice Autumn points prize and the Runner Up Overall Trophy for the most points. Weltmeister AF has been very successful in the show ring too, winning Champion Newcomer Park Hack and Reserve Champion Park Hack at his first show at Clevedon. He won all his classes and three Newcomer Championships at Pukekohe and then at the Royal Easter Show he was Reserve Champion Newcomer. Jennifer reports "I'm extremely proud of my horse's achievements in
his first year under saddle." And rightly so!
There are plenty of opportunities now to keep competing during the winter. Tielcey Park series has produced some top performances from warmbloods. At preliminary level there is KH Ambrose (Anamour/Winterkoenig) from Karaka Hills Sporthorses for Abbie Deken. In Novice there is Rochon (Rotspon) bred by Lucy Robertshawe for Mandy Littlejohn. In Open Medium leading the way for Rachel Bird is the huge Ascent (Anamour/Voltaire II/Jaguar).
In the Woodhill Sands series Anamours again seem to be to the fore and out in force. In Preliminary and Novice Akkshin (Anamour/Aureate II xx) is well placed for rider Julie Killick. This horse was bred by Richard and Mary Bowling. Also in Novice there is Letz Dance (Gibralter II) for Judith Hayes, Millenium Mayhem (Tabasco xx/Wohler II) for breeder and owner Jennie Smith and Albury (Ramzes II/Wharf xx) for owner /breeder Anne Nalder.
In Elementary/Medium Watergate (Washington DC/Mt Everest – bred by Kumeu Vet Dr Phil Robinson) is showing why he did well at the Nationals and Horse of the Year for owner Wendi Williamson.
Others showing well in Elementary are Annanique (Anamour/Winterkoenig) from Tina Reed's barn for owner/rider Chelsea Thom. Another Shower (Anamour/Allermund) for breeder/owner Robin Potter and the VERY first ever by Dream Boy, Donnergrollen (from Cayo Bay xx mare Monier Bay) for owner/breeder Allison Lally.
The current leader in Medium level is another from Tina Reed's barn – Ansome (Anamour/ Aythorpe xx) for owner Rachael Gillon. The imported mare JB Svetlana (Sky High/Shadoof) is showing her class in Open Medium for owner/rider Sean Bignell. It is interesting to note that Sky High is by Ferdi – also the sire of Mt Everest.
At this year's HOY show, Aero again performed extremely well gaining two seconds, including in the Amateur Rider Title.
Unfortunately though, a week after these tremendous achievements, Aero fractured his tibia which also caused extensive ligament damage. Sandra reports that he is valiantly fighting on and weight bearing, and she has sent us some recent photos of his light exercise regime. The nearside
hind leg is the one that was damaged, but he's getting more and more use every day.
All our good wishes for a continued speedy recovery for Aero. We look forward to seeing him out and about again real soon!
After an eventful start, we gained each others respect and commenced serious work. Dressage was her calling, and she was rarely out of the top 10. At the end of her first competitive season we journeyed north to the South Island Dressage Championships, here we placed 5th, 6th, 7th and 9th in the Preliminary classes. We travelled back home on a real high!
The next season competing at Novice level started well with a few minor placings and some great scores in the high 60s and early 70%.
We were all set for one final competition prior to setting off for our second South Island Champs
campaign when the unthinkable happened.
The thing you dread when you walk out to your paddock two days before the competition, lead
rope swinging, is to see your pride and joy staggering toward you on three legs! I knew straight away something was seriously wrong.
Four vet visits and an x-ray session later the final diagnosis came in; Poppy had a complete
vertical fracture of the pedal bone.
Treatment started the moment our new stable block was finished – six months of stabling, weekly five minute walks and swimming sessions in the local equine pool.
At the end of the six months a further x-ray was taken but no great improvement showed so I became resigned to the fact that my Pops would become a broodmare and we subsequently put her in foal to Kinnordy Gym Bello in November 2006.
During March this year Poppy was presented to the Studbook Kinnordy Classifier, Mr H Schmorl. She scored 8s for breed and sex type, for correctness of gaits, general impression and development and for the set/shape of her neck. For all other points she scored 7s with an overall score of 7.
She was then accepted into Studbook Kinnordy, allowing us to register and brand the foals she has.
We are now drawing close to the arrival of our foal and are all waiting excitedly in anticipation! I still hold hope that I will again be able to ride her, if not compete her,
just to feel that raw power again. If not I will have to suffice by riding her offspring
who I hope will inherit some of her power and presence!
This show was held at the Taupo Equestrian Centre from Friday 30 March to Sunday 1 April 2007.
In addition to the age group championship classes, the show was also the culmination of the various show jumping age group breeding series which have been running over the 2006 / 07 season.

Woodhill Sands North West Auckland April 7
Even though it is late in the season, there was a good turnout of quality horses for the in hand classes. THANKS to all of you who supported our 'new beginning show'. We shall move forward from here again - it is such a good education for the young horses and the venue is ideal - safe, enclosed, and has yards and a great kiosk from where Angela Nobilo served great coffee!
Many thanks to Sylvia McLean from Christchurch who was our Judge.
A BIG thank you to Manuka Sporthorses - Craig and Rosemary Sharp who stand Moschinno SWB, and to Tazpart Warmbloods - Robin and Eric Potter for their generous sponsorship of the Championship classes where the champion received $100.
There were 2 worthy champions - both beautiful fillies and Hanoverian bred.
Junior Champion is Winter Dream Miro - Dream Boy/Winter Willow/Distelfink.
Reserve Champion is Spellbound BC - Salutation/Wellspoken/Spoken in Jest. The colt was bred by Chris Beech by Kallista Field's advanced dressage stallion Salutation (Sandro Hit). Wellspoken was a good dressage horse winning at Championship level and is a full sister to Just in Jest, a horse currently competing at Medium level. In his first ever outing he was a little excited but showed some lovely movement at times. He has a good foundation and with less tension a good walk.
Reserve champion is Leo Chocolat - Dream Boy/Leo Fanfare/Leo Godonov. He was bred by Julia Fraser from her foundation mare family Golden Legacy xx who is the grand dam. His relative Clifton Leo won the Young Event Horse at Taupo a few years back. This is a very attractive horse with a good for foundation, walk, trot and overall impression. He also won the gelding, showjumping and eventing classes. He was shown by regular rider Anita Jennings and is jointly owned by Anita and her mother Sue.
Others to show some form at the show were the 2 half sisters from Maniara SWB - for Manuka Sporthorses - Mantra (by Amiral), broodmare, riding horse and showjumpng and Miranda (by Lohengrin) 4th in the broodmare class.

Yet another interesting filly was Fair Dinkum - from Anne Marie Morgan - another Life Member of the association who has been breeding good horses for many years. The chestnut filly is by the Longspring Stud bred Damontez LS - by Distelfink and out of a Brilliant Invader xx mare called Seaspring Opal. This filly won the 3 yr old class and showed type and foundation with a good walk and athleticism.
