Rosewood Sonnett
Kandahar Ibn Kazra x Tavon
#AA 303 8/11/92

Rosewood Sonnett Sonnett is one of those wonderful-natured horses who make life easy for a stud. She is the last foal I bred from her dam, as Tavon died the next year trying to slip a nine-month foetus. Tavon was the nicest thoroughbred I have ever had, an easy breeder and no trouble to keep. And she left that lovely temperament in her babies. Sonnett is no exception, she is very quiet and a joy to do anything with.

Sonnet was shown only once as a baby, as she was born the same year as Chante', who tended to eclipse her somewhat. So it wasn't until she was sold, very reluctantly, when the stud was downsized between properties, and her new owner Jackie Elliot had her broken in that she did much in the showring.

Jackie showed her in led and saddle classes; her wins include South Island Reserve Champion Led Partbred/Anglo, as well as other "A" class Reserve championships and numerous wins and placings in ridden classes.

Sonnett was sold a few years later to Jim Cooper to breed endurance horses, and when Jim decided to return to Australia he very kindly gifted her back to me, knowing I would take good care of her.
