Four properties at Park Ridge, in Logan City, have been quarantined by Biosecurity Queensland after the latest horse death from the Hendra virus.
The horse, which died on Monday, was the only one on the property, but up to seven horses on neighbouring properties may have had contact with this horse and samples will be taken from these animals for testing.
Biosecurity Queensland and Queensland Health staff have been doorknocking neighbours to provide information about Hendra virus and confirm the location of any other horses in the area.
A total of eight properties are now under quarantine in the state, with 42 horses being monitored.
These include three properties in the Beaudesert area with 28 horses, and one property at Mt Alford, near Boonah, with seven horses.
