The backers of the film, "Saving America's Horses", are seeking support to get the message out about their production.
The film has just started the festival circuit, and has already won several awards, including Best of Festival, at its first showing in Los Angeles.
The documentary feature film is a compilatison of testimony, undercover footage and true life stories about America's horses and the need to protect and preserve them.
Associate Producer Debra Lopez said in a Youtube video that is was time to take a stand for American horses and work towards banning the slaughter trade.
She said "Saving America's Horses" was a life-saving film that could change the situation for American horses for the better.
She urged supporters to visit savingamericashorses.org to offer support for the film to ensure its message is spread widely.
