Passing of long-time arabian breeder

Arabian breeder and equine veterinarian Gabrielle Deuss died in ICU at Wellington Hospital on December 3 at the age of 62.

Deuss had suffered from health problems in recent years.

She was a long-time breeder of arabian horses, and ran Aspen Hills Stud in the Wellington area. Her family founded Tarapuruhi Arabians. Deuss was also involved in the sport of endurance, both in her local area and nationally, as a rider and vet.

She was a council member of the New Zealand Arab Horse Breeders Society for several years, and also sat on the endurance board of Equestrian Sports New Zealand.

Deuss was also a member of New Zealand's Animal Health Board.

She is survived by her husband, Eberhard (Ebi), and children Kirsten, Felix and Tessa.
