Ollie keeps clothes on for calendar

October 29, 2010

British eventer Oliver Townend has produced a glossy calendar, and he's bucked a growing trend by keeping his clothes on.

Calendar boy: Oliver Townend in a relaxed pose for his calendar.
"The photo-shoot was great fun and a chance for some of my horses to do something different," Townend said.

The pictures for the calendar were taken by Michael Blann.

"I am always amazed at the support I receive on the circuit and I hope the people who follow my progress will enjoy this calendar throughout next year," Townend said.

Blann and his assistant started clicking at 6.30am one morning, Townend said. "The horses aren't used to smoke machines and lights being around, but they really are professionals."

Images in the calendar show Townend in relaxed poses around the yard and showcasing the three phases of eventing.

• Townend is to be the keynote speaker at the US Eventing Association's annual meeting on December 11. He is also a panelist on Training Tips From Top Eventers at the convention.
