Director Steven Spielberg is to begin shooting his big-screen adaptation of the
Michael Morpurgo book, War Horse, from Monday.
It is the first film shot by Spielberg in two years, his last effort being Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
War horse tells the touching story of a farm boy, Albert, who sells his horse, Joey, for service in World War 1.
Joey decides to travel to France to retrieve his horse.
War Horse has already been adapted for stage, and has been a huge hit in West End, London, complete with its life-size puppet horses controlled by the actors.
The movie script is written by Lee Hall and Richard Curtis.
Jeremy Irvine will play Albert and his parents' roles are to be filled by Emily Watson and David Thewlis.
The stage version of the book begins showing on Broadway in March next year, with Spielberg's movie scheduled for release the following August.
The book was first published in 1982.
