The bay 14-year-old Dutch warmblood gelding, ridden to many successes by Albert Zoer of The Netherlands, injured a tendon while competing with new owner Jose Larocca in Cannes in June this year. The horse landed badly in a jump-off (video below).

He subsequently underwent surgery and recovered well, and was on standard post operative medication.

However, Okidoki developed complications on Wednesday and was taken to Bern Clinic by a veterinary team, but tragically died due to septic shock in the abdomen.

Okidoki (Kentucky x Topaz) was somewhat of a celebrity in the showjumping community, and had many fans around the world.

Okidoki was sold in February to Larocca, a British-based Argentinian rider, for a reported $US2 million, as a prospect for the World Equestrian Games after his best horse, Royal Power, was injured. Larocca, an oil company executive, still has Con Air for the WEG.
