The blazer worn by Kiwi eventing legend Mark Todd at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000 is among items to be auctioned as a fundraiser for Rangiora Racecourse.
Todd is the patron of the Rangiora Racecourse Stakeholders, and has also donated his Sydney team polo shirt. Both the jacket and polo shirt are autographed by Todd.
Among other items to be auctioned are photographs and a shoe from the "Washdyke Wonder" Grey Way, and a gold plated, mounted and framed shoe from super sire Zabeel, donated by Sir Patrick and Justine, Lady Hogan.
Bidding for all items is currently online, and the top items will be auctioned on the night of May 15 at the group's Autumn Ball, with their best online bid being the reserve.
Other notable horseshoes donated for auction include Bonecrusher, Xcellant, Rough Habit, Katie Lee, Phelan Ready, Vosne Romanee, Monkey King, Lyell Creek, Auckland Reactor, Christian Cullen, Mr Feelgood, Kiwi Ingenuity and Bettor's Strike. These will all be plated and mounted.
Also up for grabs is the chance to dress up as a Crusader and ride a Crusader's horse; trips including the Mail Boat around Marlborough Sounds, a Bluff Oyster Boat (with all the oysters you can eat), a helicopter ride, and accommodation for 10 at Donegal House in Kaikoura.
Other sports memorabilia is a signed Crusader jersey, a Sevens jersey from the Commonwealth Games Gold Medal winning team, and Winsome Buck's NZ Cup winning rug.
Canterbury artist Lynnley Driver is offering a portrait of Sir Edmund Hillary, and other artists donating work are Karen Werner and Jane MacIntosh.
