Day 12 of coma for injured equestrian Courtney King-Dye

March 16, 2010

This picture of Courtney King-Dye was released by Jason Dye yesterday, along with a medical update.

Courtney King-Dye has been in a coma for 12 days since her fall from a horse earlier this month, and is making more progress, her husband, Jason Dye said yesterday.

King-Dye, 32, is in a stable condition in St Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Jason Dye said Courtney had been off the ventilator and breathing on her own for more than 36 hours.

"Unfortunately there is not a lot more to report from a medical standpoint, but I can tell you that I get a deep sense when I am with her that she is fighting to come back, and I know when Courtney sets a goal ... look out!" he said.

• Messages of support for Courtney can be sent to comebackcourt@gmail.com and cards can be sent to Courtney Dye, 2442 Muir Circle, Wellington, FL 33414.

• US website Dressage Daily reported yesterday that some riders at the Dressage Affaire in Del Mar, California, at the weekend wore protective helmets in their warm-ups, and Akiko Yamazaki, owner of Ravel, also wore her helmet in competition.
