The acclaimed stage adaptation of Michael Morpugo's book about a horse during World 1 is headed for Broadway next year.
The show, which features spectacular life-size puppets of horses, will run at the Lincoln Center, previewing on March 17, 2011, and opening on April 14.
The show has attracted rave reviews since it first opened in 2007 at the National Theatre in Britain and continues to play to packed houses at its current venue, New London Theatre.
The play is based on the book War Horse, by Michael Morpurgo. |
Even the Queen and Prince Philip ventured out one evening to watch the production.
Its run at the New London Theatre will end on February 12 next year.
The book was adapted to stage by Nick Stafford.
It tells the story of young Albert and his horse, Joey. Joey was sold to the cavalry and shipped to France to fight in World War 1.
Albert cannot forget Joey and, when still not old enough to enlist, he sets off on a dangerous mission to find him and bring him home.
