Stolen three-horse float yet to surface

February 3, 2010

The stolen horse float.

A distinctive three-horse float stolen from outside a North Canterbury Saddlery early in January has yet to be recovered.

Owner Janice Clyma had hoped that the distinctive nature of the Australian-made Pegasus float would result in its quick return.

However, she told Horsetalk yesterday that there had been no sign of the 18-month-old angle-load trailer.

The silver float had been advertised for sale in the car park of her Saddle Up store at Amberley, which is located on State Highway 1. It disappeared overnight on January 2.

Clyma said she knew of only three floats of that type in the South Island and she had expected it would be hard to sell or keep.

"There are no clues at all," she said.

She believed the float was now either in the hands of someone who did not realise it was stolen, or the original thieves still had it and were keeping it hidden.
