Leona Lewis takes tumble from horse

January 3, 2010

British singer Leona Lewis damaged knee ligaments in a tumble from a horse, it has been reported.

The accident occurred on December 30 and Lewis, 24, was taken to hospital for treatment, leaving with a set of crutches.

It is understood she tore ligaments around her knee.

She was well enough to make New Year's Eve celebrations the following evening at a Las Vegas hotel.

The "Bleeding Love" hitmaker has lived mostly in Los Angeles since winning the X-factor television series four years ago.

Her single, "I See You", the theme song to the blockbuster movie Avatar, is up for Best Original Song at the Goldon Globe awards.

Late in April Lewis was reportedly head-butted by her horse.

She was standing beside the animal - apparently a birthday gift from friends - when something startled it.

It flicked its head and struck Lewis in the face, knocking her to the ground.

She suffered a split lip in the incident, which also occurred in Los Angeles.

Lewis was forced to delay the recording of her new album while she recovered from the knock.
