The woman looked the part, resplendent in a red coat on a white horse. However, the festive spirit was playing too much of a part in her ride in a Tennessee Christmas parade.
The woman, 46, was taking part in Shelbyville's Christmas Parade on Saturday night.
The Times-Gazette reports that police were told of a possibly intoxicated woman "wearing a red coat who was riding on a white horse" in Shelbyville square.
Police did not find her there but found her 15 minutes later slumped over her horse outside a motel.
Officers described her as "extremely intoxicated" and had to prevent her from falling off.
She was charged with being drunk in a public place and was released on $US500 bail.
