Authorities say two men and 43 horses perished in a huge barn fire in Ohio at the weekend.
Officials have yet to name the two victims, but they are believed to be local horse trainers.
Early estimates of the number of horses that perished in the blaze had ranged up to 80.
The blaze, at Lebanon Raceway, was reported at 4.50am on Saturday and the building was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
In all, 10 fire departments were called in to the fight the blaze.
The raceway, about 40 kilometres northeast of Cincinnati, is part of the Warren County Fairgrounds. The barn was one of about 20 at the facility.
Investigations are continuing.
