Showjumping at Foxton

November 30, 2009

Slow and clear took the money in both the horse and pony grand prix classes at the Central District ESNZ Show in Foxton yesterday.

Eventual winner Claire Wilson and her grey stallion Answer Back were the last of a trio of combinations through to the jump-off from the 20-strong start list. Ahead of her Robert Steele on Gospel and Doug Isaacson on Brother Brown had gone quickly but paid for it with a rail each over the Leicester Jardin-built course.

In the pony grand prix it was the same story with Emily Fraser and Tony the Pony taking the steady option to win the class.

Danielle Maurer showed her winter in Australia stood her in good stead with a win in the young rider class on Blue Rinse. The combination were the only clear in the first round of the class.

The 530 combinations who entered the two star two-day show faced challenging conditions with torrential rain on Saturday which cleared yesterday.
