November 23, 2009

A woman knocked unconcious after her horse collapsed beneath her was airlifted to Wellington Hospital yesterday afternoon.

The woman, 19, from Lower Hutt, was among three riders on Wainuiomata's South Coast when the incident occurred.

The horse appeared to suffer a seizure and the woman was trapped beneath it. Her helmet was shattered.

She was pulled to safety and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter called in. She had regained consciousness by the time she left the scene.

Her condition is unknown.

The horse died at the accident scene.
