Hunt on for top equestrian retailer

November 4, 2009

The hunt is on for the best equestrian retailer in Britain.

The British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) wants British horse owners to nominate their favourite tack shop, website or catalogue for a prestigious national award.

The SEIB Retailers of the Year will be announced at the BETA's Gala Dinner in February.

BETA said horse owners should consider, before making a nomination, how well a retailer's products are displayed and explained, if the store is clean and tidy, whether staff are knowledgeable and able to provide sound advice, if a fast delivery service is offered and whether a good choice of goods is available.

The award, sponsored by South Essex Insurance Brokers, is one of a series of annual BETA Business Awards recognising excellence in equestrian enterprise.

All nominated businesses will receive a questionnaire from BETA which must be completed and returned to be considered for the next stage of judging.

Follow-up visits, possibly incognito, and telephone calls will be made to reach a final decision.

Horse owners should visit www.retaileroftheyear.org.uk to put forward their favourite retailer. Everyone who nominates will be entered into a free prize draw to win a £299 Wintec 500 GP saddle.

Nominations close on December 7.
