Hammer attack on Riding for Disabled horse

A hammer attack on a horse in Australia's Northern Territory is under police investigation.

The horse called Jessie suffered a suspected skull fracture in the attack, which occurred overnight on Friday.

Jessie, 15, is used in local Riding for the Disabled work.

The attack with what police described as a blunt instrument occurred at a property on Catalina Road, at Marlows Lagoon.

Northern Territory News reports it will take Jessie three months to recover.
