A $US2500 reward has been offered by the Humane Society of the United States for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of those responsible for killing four horses with poison in Lake County, Oregon.
Around September 20 four competition quarter horses were found dead on a Lake Ridge Road property in Lakeview and, while poisoning is suspect, the substance has not been positively identified.
"Those who abuse animals can be dangerous to people," said Scott Beckstead, the society's senior state director for Oregon.
"Oregonians have no tolerance for violence against the creatures who share our world."
The case is under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Also assisting are the Oregon State Police, Oregon Department of Agriculture and Lakeview Animal Hospital.
