Five Paso Fino horses and a mule have been seized by the South Florida SPCA from a property in Miramar County.
One Paso Fino filly was described as being in very bad shape and had to be euthanized.
All horses have been transported to the South Florida SPCA where they are receiving food, water and medical attention.
The horses will be available for adoption once recovered.
The society says it has 30 rescued horses at its facility.
"We need Florida horse owners to help us by taking in some of the healthy, beautiful, sound horses already at our ranch to make space for the new rescues that are in terrible shape," says president Jeanette Jordan.
"Our feed bills are already over $US6000 per month. Our funds are running low and we sure could use your help!"
