Aust World Cup jumping round to Chugg and Vivant

August 7, 2009

Chris Chugg and 11-year-old bay Belgium warmblood stallion Vivant triumphed over 29 competitors to take out the Adenbrook Homes FEI World Cup Qualifier held at the Toowoomba showgrounds this week.

"I came here for the points because I'm hoping represent Australia at the World Cup Final in Geneva, Switzerland next year with both Vivant and ASB Conquistador. I didn't perform as well as hoped and will now go to Adelaide and Perth to qualify for my Certificate of Capability." said Chugg.

The weather was warm and sunny, setting the scene for a fantastic event. The crowd was filled with excitement and anticipation as they watched 30 of Australia's best showjumping riders walk the challenging course set by International course designer Graeme Watts.

The 12 fence course consisted of two 1.6 metre verticals and a 3.7 metre wide water jump. The competition proved to be high and technical with faults occurring throughout all sections of the course.

Vicki Roycroft from New South Wales and Infatuation finished second, David Robertson and Sharp Seal were third, Chugg and ASB Conquistador were fourth and Tim Amitrano on Mr Innocent completed the line-up.
