Weather forces Chatsworth Horse Trials cancellation

May 17, 2009

Poor weather has forced the cancellation of the Chatsworth International Horse Trials, which was the only World Cup qualifier in the UK this season.

Riders in several sections - including internationals such as Badminton winner Oliver Townend, Zara Phillips, and New Zealand's Mark Todd - completed their dressage tests yesterday, and some of the novice and intermediate competitors went over a slightly modified cross-country course.

However extremely heavy rain put paid to the rest of the riders continuing the event.
