Case against Paragallo adjourned

April 22, 2009

New York thoroughbred breeder Ernie Paragallo, who faces 22 charges alleging poor care of horses, has had his case adjourned.

Paragallo, 51, was to have appeared early this week in Coxsackie Town Court but the case was postponed without a hearing at the request of Paragallo's lawyer.

The charges followed a visit to a Hudson Valley farm on April 8 by police and animal protection workers, who found 177 horses they said showed signs of neglect and malnourishment.

Paragallo is out on bail.
