Bride misses wedding - horse blamed

A British bride ended up in hospital wearing a neck brace after being thrown from her horse and carriage on the way to her wedding, the BBC reports. The bride suffered a knock to the head as she and her father hastily exited the carriage as the horse bolted in Worcestershire. The bride was taken to hospital in a neck brace and spinal board as a precaution.
Shootout leaves 17 dead after horse race

Forget photo finishes. A dispute over the winner of a horse race in Guatemala resulted in a shootout that left at least 17 people dead. Drunken racegoers near the town of Santa Ana Huista, close to the Mexican border, reached for their firearms to settle the dispute. Soldiers were sent to the area to restore order. The victims are reported to be of both Guatemalan and Mexican nationality. Police inquiries are continuing.
