Northern Ireland eventing rider Stephen Moore has died two weeks after suffering a fall at Ireland's Glenarm Castle Horse Trials in County Antrim.
Moore, 45, died in Coleraine hospital on August 15 after a heart attack. He had earlier collapsed at his home.
In the cross-country fall from his mount Whoa Nelly in August 2 he sustained injuries including broken ribs and a broken collarbone. It is thought his death arose from complications related to a punctured lung.
Tragically, Moore's brother, Sam, was killed in a fall at Blenheim Horse Trials in September 1997. His horse hit a fence and somersaulted over it, crushing his rider.
After Sam Moore's death Stephen took over his brother's equine business at Drumeen Lodge. Along with a cousin and several friends, Stephen organised the Sam Moore fund, which supports equestrian safety initiatives and helps with paramedic costs at one day events.
