Three horse and rider combinations have been named to New Zealand's team to compete in the 2008 World Endurance Championships in Malaysia in September.

The team comprises:

• National 160km title winners Jenny Champion and Freckles, from Eketahuna. She also won the national 160km championships in 2006 when held at Hawarden.

• Cheviot's Philip Graham and Wolfgang Amadeus, who are one of the country's most experienced combinations. Graham, 53, competed at the WEG in Aachen. Wolfgang Amadeus is a 12-year-old anglo arab.

• Andrea Smith and Sierra Nevada, from Mangaweka in the North Island, who were fifth at the Nationals this year.
