New Zealand's Tim Price placed second in the top class at the weekend's Osberton Horse Trials, with Mark Todd in his British debut finishing down the field in eighth on Dusky Moon and 17th on Gandalf.

A few seconds in time faults on the cross-country meant Price and Vortex had to settle for second place in the CIC** on 52.5 penalties, behind Flora Harris on Law Choice, on 50.4.

Todd and his borrowed mount, Dusky Moon, had a few time penalties also, finishing on 58.9. Galdalf had a showjumping fault as well as time penalties and finished on 67.3 for 17th place.

Of the other New Zealand riders in the two-star class of 75, Bruce Haskell was 27th on Kiwi Smog (74.1), and 48th on Not Kidding (89.9). The one-day-event was run over Sunday and Monday.

Haskell and Euromagic won the Intermediate section I class, with Price and Rock Solid fourth. Price's Konundrum III was eliminated in the showjumping. Lucy Jackson riding Animator was fourth in the Intermediate section E class, and in the Open Intermediate section Jonelle Richards and Nemo II finished 21st.
