New Spring Farm's Windfall, who will appear with Robert Dover at the Darren Chiacchia fund raiser.

April 1, 2008

Darren Chiacchia's family says that the injured event rider has been talking to them, but "his responses are inconsistent and illogical", they said.

Darren's mother, Evelyn, and sister Kim are at his bedside in the intensive care unit at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. "Darren continues to make progress, but the progress is slow," they said.

"Continue to pray for Darren as he attempts to pull himself from his darkness."

A fund raiser to help with Darren's medical expenses is taking place tomorrow, and the United States Equestrian Association (USEA) is also helping to raise funds. Proceeds from an an in the next issue of Eventing USA and sales of a poster at the kentucky three-day-event will go to Darren's medical expense fund.

Many of the sports finest riders will be present at tomorrow night's fundraiser, including a special appearance by Olympic medalist Robert Dover with Darren's prized stallion, Windfall.

Darren's brother and other sister will be returning to Florida from Buffalo to visit Darren over the next few days.
