For the first time in more than 25 years, the Tennessee Walking Horse will appear as a featured programme at the Grand National Rodeo, April 4-12, 2008 at San Francisco's historic Cow Palace.
The Grand National Rodeo and Stock Show is the largest combined event of its kind in the United States. The 2008 Tennessee Walking Horse Exhibition will be a featured program during the PRCA Rodeo Performances in the 30,000 square foot main arena.
"The positive response to this program has been overwhelming," says segment producer Jesai Bancroft, owner of Event Nouveau.
"Exhibitors from Colorado, Oregon, and all over California have been gracious enough to offer their time, talent, and some truly exceptional horses to perform in this showcase program."
Two separate formats will be presented - a different exhibition program for each weekend.
The public will also have a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the stars of the event. It's not just about watching these naturally gaited World and International Grand Champions work in the ring, it's also about the awe of being able to experience this majestic breed first hand. The GNR has an open stables policy and has even designated a special "meet and greet area" for the Tennessee Walking Horses at this event. People coming in to watch the show will have the chance to ask questions about the breed, say hello and take pictures with one these beautiful horses.
"We are happy to have the Tennessee Walking Horse back after so many years," said Doreen Will, horse show manager with the Grand National Rodeo. "I know our patrons will enjoy the glamour that this breed of horse brings to the equestrian entertainment world."
