FREE SERVICE Incentive. With the purchase of any horse, we offer a free service to Kazmere Armani or Flowervale Meteor (conditions apply) Please contact us for further details. WOW Imagine our surprise and delight to read in The Bulletin (Equestrian Sport NZ, Nov 09) that Arnie is ranked in the Top 10 of NZ Dressage Sires. I have mentioned before that we only breed 1 or 2 horses per year and in fact have only bred 9 foals by Arnie in total. Compared to the other stallions on the list, Arnie in his lifetime probably has the same amount of progeny on the ground that most of these stallions breed in one season. - The proof of quality truly is in the progeny. Of note: There are quite a number of both imported and GP Dressage Stallions that have large numbers of progeny competing that are not ranked ... Arnie (K.Armani) is now retired from competing. His last outing was the 08 NZ Royal Show bringing home 3 wide ribbons and the 2 x Royal Show Champion titles were the icing on the cake to an illustrious career in the showring. We had also entered Arnie in the Ridden Allbreeds Stallion Section. This normally would require (any horse) at least being ridden and schooled before the event! However due to his rider BJ Bull living so far away, the only riding that Arnie had had in 20 months was a 5 min ride 3 weeks before the show and another (5 mins) the night before when all plaited and rugged up. Saddle thrown on the minute he came out of competing in the Led section and into the Ridden, didn't put a hoof wrong and came out with the Champion Ridden, a title he has now won 3 times at Canty A&P. Meteor (Flowervale Meteor) has only had a couple of outings. He has attended the Stallion Parade and was shown at the South Island Warmblood Championship Show, both in 08 & 09. Both times at the Show he has taken the title of SI Champion Warmblood Stallion - he has now been the SI Ch WB Stallion for the previous 3 years. We await his progeny coming of age to be started under saddle and can't wait for them to be seen out and about. There have been some changes to our stud riders over the previous season. After the NZ Grand National Show 09, Amelia French who was riding both Gus (K. Can Do) & Lady (Flowervale Freelady) enrolled at University and decided that she no longer had the time to commit to riding the horses - we wish her all the best. With the horses turned out, we were then talking with Sally Field-Dodgson, whose daughter Lucy was looking for a horse to ride. Lady then went to live with Sally and Lucy, until Lucy too enrolled at Uni in Wellington. Lucy did however manage to get to a few shows and came home with a number of wide ribbons; the highlights would be taking out the Supreme Paced & Mannered Horse at Ashburton A&P and Res Ridden Warmblood at the NZ Royal. Riding and working for Sally also at this time was Thomas Oldridge. Tom also competed on Lady, riding her at Level 3 (Elementary) Dressage and also took her out jumping which she loves, winning her classes. Tom has picked up the reins and ride on Gus and they make a fabulous combination. Together since Sept 09, they have had an outstanding season. Gus took out the Champion Riding Horse and Champion Ridden Performance Sporthorse (judged by Tinks Pottinger) at the NZ Royal Show and came home with 3 x NZ National Arabian titles in Feb. As well they have been out jumping and competing at Level 3 Dressage successfully. With the warmer months approaching and future developments being planned at home, we aim to get more of our horses out on a competitive level. Tom is coming on board as our stud rider and we also welcome back Abby Keith, who initially rode Gus after he was started under saddle and at his first couple of outings and will now be riding Lady until she gets to big (we are planning on putting her in foal) and also riding Lacey (K.Bewitched).
