RIP: Melissa (Mel) Taylor nee Craw, 17.07.73 - 05.09.06

Sadly Mel lost her battle with cancer. Mel's trip to Thailand for Ozone treatment saw her hit the headlines and television both Nationally and Internationally - her guts, determination and courage to get over what she went thru, are an inspiration to us all.

There is a large gap now in both our personal life and our Stud business without Mel. Sadly she wasn't with us long enough to see the birth of 'her' precious horse K.Cache's first foal and our first Meteor foal born, but she would have been delighted to know that we have named him after her, but horrified that he is bay - her least favourite colour! Rest In Peace my dear friend.

The biggest excitement of the season, were the arrival of the first Meteor foals, and they were well worth the wait. All the foals, ours and others have beautiful heads, lovely balanced bodies and correct conformation. Their movement is fabulous - uphill and elevated with powerful hock action. On the ground they are a pleasure to handle, with extremely quick trainable minds. There were a variety of different breeds and colours of mares that Meteor covered in his first season. - All the resulting progeny are either black or bay and are of a very similar type. The prepotency of Meteor's strong gene pool, are now without doubt coming through in his progeny. Meteor has continued to impress with his respectful and kind temperament. He shows that he has the paces for Dressage with his free, elevated and elegant movement, and when trailed freejumping for the first time, he showed a natural and stylish jumping ability.

Arnie, who is now in his prime, was bought out after a break from competing and attended the South Island Warmblood Show. He can now add to his impressive list of multi Supreme titles - the current SI Champion Warmblood Stallion. His progeny (that we know of) have also performed well this past season; from just a few the are the current South Island Champion Derivative Gelding - K.Copyright, who has now been sold to Kellie Williams. Kellie and Denzel will be competing under saddle this season. South Island Champion Derivative Mare and Supreme S I Exhibit, Grand National Champion Arabian and Supreme Arabian at the Canterbury Horse and Pony Breeders Show. Arnie had a full book of mares last season and has continued to serve a large variety of different breeds and types.

Our other import, the very beautiful Flowervale Freelady, has now been under saddle since April. John and I are delighted that 'Lady' is now residing with the French family and under their care and attention, she is coming along superbly. Cheryl and her daughter Amelia are both well known and respected competitors in both the Show ring and the Dressage arena. Amelia and Lady have built a wonderful rapport together in such a short time and along with Amelia's parents David and Cheryl we are anticipating an exciting partnership in Dressage for them both.

This coming season we have two mares due to foal, and both by Meteor. We have released Te Peka Geisha (Genius) off Steph Isles and Anky (Voltaire II) off Jane Ward. We are looking forward to these WB foals out of these two quality mares.

We are also currently updating the website and will be adding a full sales list of available progeny within the next month.
