Standing at stud in Australia

Frozen semen available in NZ if there is enough interest ...

Baltydaniel Breeze RID 16hh, 9.5inches of bone, grey and has the most wonderful temperament, and fabulous movement. I have been riding him in dressage over here for a few months and we have won a few ribbons which is great. If there is interest I intend to send a shipment to NZ in August. Currently Balty is in quarantine having semen collected for freezing. His post thaw motility rates are 60%, which is fabulous.

He is not related to any of the Draught lines currently in NZ or Australia, and has been identified as a rare line draught by the IHB, for which breeders are encouraged to use.

Clare & Simon Wilson and Right Royal (Waipukurau)

Show-jumping riders Claire and Simon Wilson have always had a soft spot for Irish sport horses. They spotted Right Royal (Roy) as a three year old, and luckily his breeder Bruce Goldstone was tempted to sell him. Claire's aunt, Ann Magee was visiting from Ireland at the time, and instantly recognised his potential, so jumped at the chance to buy Roy. Right Royal is by Kingsway Diamond, out of the In The Purple mare, Purple Return.

He had a slow and steady start to his show-jumping career in the hands of Claire. Then Simon took over the reins ... and Right Royal went on to win two World Cup Rounds, the Norwood Gold Cup (at Horse Of The Year Show) and the National Championships as an 8 year old, this being his first season jumping at top level. Other achievements since then have included winning the World Cup Series in 07 and placing 2nd in 2009 after clocking up two more World Cup wins in this past season. At the 2009 Horse of the Year Show in March, Right Royal placed 6th in the $750,000 Bell Tea Olympic Cup competing against some members of the New Zealand and Australian Olympic teams.

Right Royal's consistency has earned him the honour of representing NZ on numerous occasions as a member of the trans-Tasman Team (competing against Australia). Right Royal is a loveable character, with a huge adoring fan club. He is widely respected for being a kind, genuine horse, who always puts forward a solid performance. Also, on the Wilson's truck is Roy's full brother, Cruiser. This much admired 7yr old stallion is owned by his breeder, Bruce Goldstone ... and is also proving to be an interesting prospect for the future as a jumper and sport horse sire. Cruiser's progeny are also showing the fantastic attitude that is typical of Irish bred horses ... so the Wilson's are excited about continuing these well performed bloodlines.

Claire's mother, Di Murphy, has recently imported an impressive young mare from Green-Hall Stud, Co Wicklow - Coolafancy was bred by respected breeder, Derry Rothwell, and is by Collin Diamond and out of a Cruising mare. This large filly is currently in foal to Di's top level jumping stallion, Answer Back

. Right Royal's achievements over the last three years have given the Wilson, Murphy and Goldstone families a lot of enjoyment from breeding, owning and riding Irish Sport Horses. They will continue to breed and hope to produce more horses of this caliber, in the future.

The Canterbury Horse & Pony Breeders Show was held on Saturday 7 February 2009 on a perfect summer day at Canterbury Agricultural Park (the venue for the NZ Royal show). The show has sections for 20 breeds or types of horses and ponies - the Irish section was well supported with 20 horses entered, making it the third largest section behind the Riding Pony and Welsh sections. One long-time exhibitor suggested this was the highest quality line-up of Irish horses she had seen at the Breeders show.

A new class for 2009 was the Shamrock Perpetual Challenge Trophy class, open to registered Irish Draught horses, any age, any sex and 75% or more Irish blood. This exquisite trophy was donated to the Irish Section of the Canterbury Breeders show, by an enthusiastic devotee of the Irish breed keen to help promote the breeding of purebred Irish Draught horses.

The class was well supported with 5 entries ranging from ¾ bred to purebred. The winner was Ashfield Rata, a 3 year old filly by Coalman's Touch out of Ashfield Scarlett (by Kingsway Diamond), owned by AW & DP Scott from Oxford. This win concluded a wonderful day for Dorothy & Alan Scott, having also won the Supreme Irish horse and Champion Adult, earlier in the day with the Kingcroft Wicklow mare, Ashfield Ingenue (Kingcroft Wicklow x Yentl TB).

Reserve Champion Adult went to last years Supreme Irish exhibit, Coniston Maisie (Coalman's Touch x Merry) exhibited by Tracy Crossan from Ranfurly. Tracy is an extremely dedicated exhibitor at the Canterbury Breeders show, rising in the early hours of Saturday morning to make the long drive from Ranfurly (Otago) to Christchurch in time for an 8.30am start. Tracy's dedication was further rewarded when HV Wolfetone (Coalman's Touch x Lovely AI) bred by Kathryn & Davie Hill and owned/exhibited by Tracy, won the Champion Gelding award.

Reserve Champion gelding went to Lesley Spence's yearling, Thornfield Bram (Coalman's Touch x Thornfield Bella). The Champion Irish Youngstock award went to Alan & Dorothy Scott's Ashfield Rata with Twin Blues Stud's Twin Blues Grace O'Malley (Coalman's Touch x Galtymore Scarlett O'Hara) being awarded the Reserve rosette.
