My wife and I bought an Irish draught x yearling a year ago on trade me as a paddock mate for a warmblood colt we bred ourselves. ‘Stanley’ has turned out into a very nice looking chap and we will show jump him when he is old enough and we are trying to find out a bit more about his bloodlines. I was told he was by Royal Red who is IDxTHB out of a THB mare by Pins. The THB was easy enough to locate but no search that I have done comes up with a Royal Red, can you help?

I have recently purchased an Irish Hunter (chestnut gelding) - has the Shamrock brand on his left shoulder and 29 (over) 4 on his right shoulder, and came with the name Jaffa. I would love to know more about his background. The person I bought him from in Marton had him for 4 months, but sold him on as he was not ideal for hunting (didn't like the wire fences). He was previously in the South Island. He has a scar on his rear right leg where I was told he went through a fence chasing a mare (or two) in his younger days, and he has a small hernia on his underside just behind his girth - neither of these appear to bother him. He has clearly done some dressage in his past, has a bold jump and he has a very cheeky personality - knows to check all my pockets for treats. I woud be grateful for anything anyone can tell me about his background: lou_chip@hotmail.com

Trevor Gliddon is the most understated, unrecognised breeder I have come across in 35 years of horses worldwide. Willy John is a 'true Irish type' and Trevor's sporthorses are the best available in New Zealand. I have a stunning 6yr old grey who is evidence of Trevor's amazing talent for a successfully bred sporthorse-perfect in mind, body, and spirit. Give them time to grow and mature, and don't under-estimate them! Well done Trevor-you are the best!

RID stallion Rhyd's Sea Quest (sire Sea Crest; dam Ginger Anne by Ginger Dick) on October 28,2009,began his 60-day quarantine in order to freeze and export frozen semen directly to New Zealand in mid 2010. Appx. 120 doses will be available at a facility in the north island. This stallion is an outcross to most New Zealand mares, and is a brother to Lenamore,N.Z's own Olympic star in Hong Kong.

Hi, I've recently bought an irish draught cross gelding (unreg) who I'm told was by a stallion called MacCavity who was by Laughtons Legend. My horse was bought by his previous owner from people based in Gore. I can't find anything on the net about this stallion and am wondering if anyone has heard of him? Thank you.

Hi, I have a beautiful mare by Irish Guard (she is 1/4 Irish, 3/4 TB) who gave me a stunning little filly 18 months ago (see my site www.caerbalegacy.com) She has been ridden and jumped by me, but last time was about 2 years ago. Currently, she is being very well cared for (stables at night, fed twice a day, etc) but with four horses (2x 18mo olds and my imported Holsteiner mare) AND a full time job as CEO of a software company... I need to sell her to someone who will love her as much as me, but also give her the stimulation that she needs in terms of riding, being a mother again, etc... Please let me know if someone is interested in her. I would be happy to put her in foal to Caerba again if desired, and sell the package to an exceptional home for around NZ$6K. Let me know... ctoner@xtra.co.nz

I am now the proud owner/breeder of my first 3/4 bred Irish. I have a fabulous colt by Coalman's Touch out of Wynyard Night Owl (Laughtons LegendXTB mare) and he's just THE business. My other irish 'kids' continue to ensure that I stay loyal to the breed & want to breed more. My 2nd Irish foal for this season is out of a Kingsway Diamond mare, by our Mighty Heights colt - She sold to the very first person to enquire about her and will be going to a fabulous new home in Wellington as soon as she is weaned. I didn't need to do a thing - she sold herself. Go THE Irish! :o)

Would love to get hold of Brooke Churcher. I use to be the proud owner of Quantum Legend and would like to get hold of her and see how she is if that is possible. I agree she is gorgeous and she won me lots of money in the show jumping arena and was an amazing horse.
If you anyone knows how I could get hold of her that would be great. Can email me at miranda.lobb@gmail.com

Hi Guys. I lost my beautiful Irish baby last night. Two seasons ago I sent my mare to Coalmans Touch, and last year Ruby was born. I think she taught me more than I ever had to teach her. She was a real people horse, and ALWAYS called out to me when I was on my way to the paddock, and she was a pleasure to work with and teach. Unfortunately, we had been giving her floating lessons, which she initially had a bit of a fight with but after five trips/lessons had settled well to it although we still had a bum rope on her and her lead tied under the breastbar to avoid her going over it. Somehow last night after we had been travelling about 10 minutes, she managed to still get over the breast bar and shattered her back leg. No other horse has made such a big impact on my life in such a short time - I feel like I have let her down as she trusted me completely and I am heartbroken. Sorry Ruby my beautiful Irish girl, I will miss you always.

Willie John has mares due to foal this season's crop very soon. Trevor Gliddon presently working on his own health needs and has recognised his horse numbers should be reduced. Stunning array of young horses and breeding stock available. The temperments are extraordinary. It would be sad not to see such wonderful horses not fulfill Trevors dreams of providing pleasure to new owners. Now's the time to just do it, buy one!

Wow that's wonderful to hear about your visit to Christchurch, where you got to see Willie John. I was wondering how to get info about any offspring they have for sale there? Also if Trevor Gliddon is still involved with breeding?
thanks and sounds like you have some MARVELOUS stock, congratulations!

Hi, I was once proud co-owner of Irish Guard. Sadly due to breakdown in marital circumstances I can no longer breed from this lovely stallion. I am however looking for an irish broodmare, pref with Laughton's Legend bloodlines. If you know of any lovely irish mares wasting in a paddock due to injury or lack of time i would be interested. North Island only please.

Just came back from a trip to Christchurch where I got to see Willie John in person. Very impressive stallion both in appearance and temperament. I have 2 mares sired by Kingscroft Wicklow, one an advanced eventer. Plan on doing AI with them this next season using frozen semen. Out of the Advanced mare I have a 3 and 2 year old filly, one by a son of the Hanoverian Anamour and the other is by Heroicity (TB). Have become a fan of the breed and look forward to doing more breeding in the future.

WOW modern technology!! Thanks to the Irish horse society in NZ I have traced my horse and it turns out she was one of the first bred here in NZ by Thady and Ann Ryan - her Sire Kingsway Diamond out of a T/B Mare by the name of India. Her registered name is Edenderry. Thanks. Is there anyone out there that knows this horses life. She seems very well trained in all disciplines. Nicole.
