Since we moved to the family farm (Ranganui) in 2007, the yearling prep, foaling, weaning, and agistment side of Gurteen Stud is now being run under the Ranganui banner. With 450 acres and heaps of facilities, this means that we can offer an even better service. Prices valid to August 09 Agistment Ranganui offers agistment services for all your horse's needs. We cater for all age groups and have excellent facilities to accomodate colts. We have extensive stabling, and good yards for handling young stock. Horses are run in groups of up to 10 individuals. They are grouped according to age and sex and are run with deer and cattle on a rotation around our 460 acre farm. They are fed and checked daily. Horses are fed Prydes Easyfeed products and crushed barley. Lucerne Baleage and meadow hay are also supplied. Horses are regularly drenched and a farrier is on farm every 3 to 4 weeks. Charges Standard agistment - $9 + gst per head per day Extra - Horses requiring twice daily feeds and/or individual paddocking $12 + gst per head per day Weanlings up to August 1 $10 + gst per head per day Wet mares $10 + gst per head per day Colts $10 + gst per head per day Cover hire $2 + gst per head per day All vet fees, drenching and trimming is additional Foaling / Weaning Ranganui offers a foaling service. Mares are fitted with foaling alarms and are foaled in paddocks under close supervision. At birth the foal receives penicillin, tetanus, and oral selenium plus any intensive care required by mare or foal for 3 days post foaling. Ranganui provides a weaning service. Professional handlers are employed to teach foals to lead, tie, and have their feet trimmed. Agistment charges apply. Foaling fee $ 400 + gst Weaning fee $ 350 + gst Sales preparation Ranganui has exceptional stabling facilities and experienced staff to ensure yearlings reach the sales ring in optimum condition. Boxing starts for the winter TB sales on May 1 and for the summer SB sales in early Dec. The fee includes all feed, covering and stabling requirements. Winter sales prep horses are stabled under lights and are double rugged. The fee also includes walking out and turn out preparation before and during sales week. No extra commission is charged. Winter sales preparation fee $ 32 + gst / day Summer sales preparation fee $29 + gst / day Sales day fee $ 100 + gst / day for the 3 days of the sale. Handling Any horses that arrive at Ranganui and cannot easily be lead, wormed, and have their feet trimmed will be handled at the owners expense.
