GURTEEN'S EDEN
Eden's first show
November 2009
| Eden competed at her first show this weekend. The South Island Warmblood show was a great first outing. Eden was like an old pro. She needed to be, as two days later she competed at Christchurch Royal A&P show.
Nothing seems to faze this filly. She was second in her age group inhand class to another Griffyndor youngster and then went on to win Reserve Champion Inhand Warmblood. She then won her ridden age group class (in a class of 12 competitors).
THEN a few days later Eden went to her first dressage competition where she acheived a win and two second placings. What an amazing 10 days. Eden and Lydia make an awesome team. Keep up the great work! |

Gurteen's Eden too good to let go!!
March 2009
I am absolutely thrilled to let everyone know that Lydia Meridith who has been riding Eden for the stud, has decided to purchase the filly herself. Lydia and Eden have quickly formed an incredible rapport. Eden just adores Lydia which is hardly surprising as Lydia is doing an incredible job of riding her (especially considering that this is the first newly broken horse that Lydia has ridden). The pictures show Eden and Lydia on their second trip off the property, having a lesson with Manuela McClean (AEBC). Look at the pictures and remember that she is a baby horse.

Gurteen's Eden is now three years old and has been broken in. She is everything we could have hoped for.
Under saddle, she is maintaining a gorgeous rhythm and movement, and is really relaxed. Lydia Meridith from Christchurch has taken Eden on as a project. Lydia hasn't ridden a newly broken in horse before but they are quickly forming a firm friendship. Lydia is a lovely soft and talented rider.
Eden will get a taste of all disciplines. We will post more pictures soon.

NEWSFLASH
Gurteen's Eden was to be retained to stud as a riding horse for me (Sam). Unfortunately, it seems that as a rising three-year-old she is not going to grow tall enough. We now estimate her mature height at around 16hh. As Eden is so leggy and elegant, I feel that as a rider I will dwarf her. This means that we regret to anounce that Gurteen's Eden is now offered for sale. Contact us for more details.

Exquisite tall elegant pure bred hanoverian filly. Very serene and gentle temperament. Has the quality to excel in showing or dressage, and the athleticism to be competitive in eventing. She has a huge length of stride. A truly beautiful filly!

Eden had an extremely good day at the Canterbury All Breeds Foal Show, winning:
- 1st place Large Hack Type foal (12 competitors)
- 1st place Warmblood Foal (11 competitors, many bred by frozen semen)
- Reserve Champion Foal
| Eden is no longer gentle and serene. She is the most popular girl in school and she knows it! She bosses her group of young ones in true, "Paris Hilton" style. We absolutely adore her.
