I have a dream.
In my last post I drew attention to the fact that there is no Horse of the Year award in the forthcoming FEI awards.

One of my devoted readers has reported to me that he has in fact voted for a horse in the Best Athlete category: “I figured a horse is an Athlete and thus fits under the category of Athlete of the Year,” my fan told me.
What a good point.
Is the horse not the ultimate athlete? Where would horse sport be without our four-legged friends?? Indeed, where would humanity be?
If you, dear reader, feel the horse is “paramount” to horse sport, then vote for your favourite equine in the Best Athlete category.
But, darlings, we have to play it straight. Think sensibly about your nomination, and why you are making it.
“We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline.” - Martin Luther King, 1963
Give a reason for your nomination, and you can upload a picture or a text file with your vote. You will need to leave your name, email address and phone number, among other details. Please make your vote count by doing it properly.
Let the people speak.

Vote for your favourite equine athlete!

I would like to nominate Mistral Hojris owned and ridden by Laura Bechtolsheimer.
I chose Mistral because he is not trained in the method of ‘Roll Kurr’ and yet can go so far in his competitions.
Good thinking, Felicity!
I nominate Bonfire as he was not trained in Roll Kurr or Rollkur. He was trained in LDR method and is still healthy enough after a long international career at age 28 to still be ridden.
I vote for my old horse Chantilly Lace who was the best horse a girl old could wish for. She always looked after me and I miss her heaps. If any one knows where shes at now I would love to hear from them. She would be about 24 yrs old now.
I would like to nominate Airthrey Highlander. Just to show that aptitude and training mean more than fashionable bloodlines. And that NZ bred horses and riders and owners can achieve anything they want to.
I 2nd Airthrey Highlander
I 3rd Airthrey Highlander
I nominate Dunstan Delphi, what a super mare, she tried her heart out at WEG.
