The names of foals born in 2009 should begin with the letters D, E, F.
Embryo transfers, in line with the ANZFHS policy, need to be reported on a form that can be requested from the ANZFHS.
The annual stallion inspection will be held in Leeuwarden from 8-10 January.

Changes to the keuring (inspection) rules and judging for the crown and model status for mares
18.7.08
Certain things in the 2008/2009 inspection season have been changed. Be sure to carefully read these announcements and the inspection regulations for 2008 that you can download from www.fps-studbook.com so that you can prepare properly before arriving with your horse(s) at the inspection. Certain aspects are intended to provide more transparency in how the inspections are run. In particular, these aspects are the provision of foal scores during the awarding of premiums at the foal inspections and the use of the lower bar column from the linear scoring in the class "increase in grade". The details are in the PDF document you can download and can also be found on the renewed KFPS website, www.fps-studbook.com.

Annual General Meeting of the AFHS
27.3.08
All members will probably now be aware of the problems the board had in organising the next AGM for 2008. Initially it was to coincide with the Royal Easter Show in Sydney, for which we were invited to do a two week static and dynamic display. The EI has badly impacted this and the display never got of the ground.
We are hoping for a new attempt in 2009, possibly to coincide with our next keuring and AGM.
The board then had a rethink and found that an AGM had not been held in WA for a long time. Since this was the foundation state of the Friesians in Australia and New Zealand, we attempted to organise the AGM on the same date, 29 March.
This however met some other problems in being able to establish a quorum. Not wanting to hold an AGM twice and members traveling in vain we looked at a more secure solution. It was eventually decided to hold the AGM in Victoria, on 17 May.
It will be the same place and format as in 2007, starting at 10:30. Motions will be placed on the forum on the AFHS website and individual notices have been sent out.
Stallion Information
21.2.08
This 2008 Stallion Information is being presented to our breeders as an aid in choosing a stallion that is either available for frozen semen or when importing a horse. When choosing a stallion it is not just important to use the best-quality stallions but it is even more important to make the correct combinations.
The KFPS strives to make as many breeding data on its stallions available as possible. Read more in the brochure you can download here. |

Important information for (future) Breeders about the studbook rules and studbook approved and permitted stallions
24.1.08
With the increase in popularity of the Friesian horse the number of studbooks, breeders, and stallion owners grew quickly in just a few short decades.
As recently as during the 1960s and 1970s there were times that breeders were literally pleaded with to take their stallion to the inspection.
This historic fact makes us feel blessed to see how many Friesian horse enthusiasts we have today. The increased popularity, however, also makes it necessary to have consistency in the policies regarding regulations and registration of the Friesian horse. KPFS has set up a registration policy that makes it possible for you as a breeder to choose any Friesian stallion you would like, which may, however, have consequences for registration ... more information in this document. Concurrently the AFHS board has clarified its position on B-Book I breeding in Australia and New Zealand. Read more in this document. (PDF, 17KB)
The stallion classification (recently held in the Netherlands) resulted in 27 stallions going through to the performance testing. Haitse 425 became the (World) Champion and Beart 411 became Reserve Champion Stallion. For more details go to the KFPS website and click on the applicable newsitem. |
