Arabian nationals a big success

(Mar 5, 2000) -- The New Zealand national championship arabian show was a big success, with more than 100 horses competing for the big awards.

The in-hand classes were judged by Dr Manfred Neubacher, from Austria, while Roger Fitzhardinge, from Australia, judged the ridden classes.

Champion purebred stallion of the show was Eastwinds Axiom, an Australian imported stallion owned by Willowvale Arabians in Rolleston. The champion mare was Mea, shown by Jameel Arabians.

The National Arabian Costume Championship winner was Cherie Murdoch, of Ohoka, riding Garabaldi. Cherie too two years to make her show costume, and at the last Canterbury nationals also won the championship with another costume, and a costume she made was reserve.
