Eastdale Stud is a small, boutique breeding farm which was established in 1973 with the purchase of riding pony mares from the well known Glen Cree Stud, owned by Catherine and Bert Bell. Only ever breeding a small number of ponies, this was the beginning of what is one of New Zealand's top studs.

Concentrating on quality rather than quantity, with the best possible bloodlines sourced from overseas, 30 years later the results speak for themselves. Eastdale ponies are consistently at the top, winning in both North and South Islands.

The objective has always been to breed a typey, elegant pony, one who sits up in front and looks at you, correct, and with extravagant movement and temperament to the fore. These attributes are a must for our children to produce in the show ring here in New Zealand.
