History of Davidoff

Heike Miller (formerly Brandt) owner of Westfalia Sport Pony Stud, bred Davidoff in Germany using her mare Mona and the very successful Pony Stallion Dressman. Heike then imported Mona and Davidoff (whilst he was still a foal at foot) to New Zealand. Heike's goals, which she successfully achieved, were to breed performance ponies for dressage, showjumping and eventing competitions with excellent movement and temperament, take a look at the progeny page where you will find excellent examples of what Davidoff has produced. To start with the best possible genetics for this type of pony the stud breed and imported Davidoff, a 14.2hh bay registered German Riding Pony stallion (Westphalian) with the bloodlines of some of the best performance, and especially dressage, bloodlines available in Europe.

By International Multi Champion and 5 times European Dressage Pony Champion Dressman I, he is related to a number of current internationally competing riding ponies, e.g. the 1999 European Silver medallist at the European Championships/Sweden, Daphne by Dressman I, competing for the United Kingdom. His breeding goes back to Dandy who, as a foundation sire, is responsible for the breeding of successful international champions such as Derano Gold and Dressman I.

The second imported breeding animal from Germany was Davidoff's dam, Mona, whose sire Merafic has produced several internationally and nationally successful showjumping and eventing champions, such as Micado, European Eventing Pony Champion 1989, and Merano, Double German Eventing Champion. Merafic topped the German National Pony Sire Rating from 1983 to 1990.

Mona's dam's bloodline (via Nazim) brought European Multi Dressage Champion Nadir and his daughter, European Multi Dressage Champion, Napoli.
