January, 2007

Moccachino's first outing was to the NZ Grand National Horse and Pony Show, at Rangiora in January. This youngster has really impressed us with his outstanding temperament and presence. At the show he was named Runner-up NZ Grand National Warmblood, Reserve Champion Sport Horse, and was Top 6 in both the Warmblood and Hack and Hunter sections. He will be one to watch in the future!

Sylvia Anderson brought two Maestro youngsters to Rangiora; Sonar, who was Reserve Champion Hack and Hunter and Reserve Champion Led Warmblood; and the striking young filly French Jubilee, and was pleased with a top six Warmblood ranking, and placings in the Warmblood and Hack and Hunter sections in her age group. This filly was recently Champion Led Exhibit at Winton A&P show.

The 2006 show season is almost upon us again and we look forward to seeing many more Caithness progeny out and about, both in-hand and under saddle.

For the past couple of show seasons we have been able to campaign only a small team at a handful of shows, because of other commitments. But despite our limited outings, our team has performed extremely well in open company. It has been very pleasing to see a growing number of Maestro's progeny out under saddle.

In March 2006 we took C. Symphony and C. Concierto to the Horse of the Year show. Competition at this show was, as usual, very strong. Symphony won her three-year-old class and was 3rd in the Led Sporthorse of the Year final. Concierto was second in his three-year-old class.

Before the Hoy we took both horses to the NZ National Horse and Pony Show, in January 2006. Concierto impressed the judges and came home with a raft of titles, including Champion Led Warmblood, runner up Led Sport Horse, and champion three-year-old titles in the Warmblood, Sport Horse, and Led Hack / Saddle Hunter divisions.

Symphony won the class for best filly suitable for sport horse breeding and took home several placings in her suitability classes.

Closer to home, in February C. Silver Song cleaned up at the Geraldine-Temuka A&P Show, capping off the day as Champion Ridden Warmblood and Champion Led Warmblood.

Earlier in the season it was pleasing to see Maestro progeny competing and doing well under saddle, most notably C. Bittersweet and C. Cinderella.

We would love to feature pictures and more results from owners of Caithness horses, or horses sired by our stallions - so please send us pictures and results.

November, 2004

Caithness Concierto (Maestro x Lady Dorchester TB) is having a limited show season, but he will be at the Royal and Breeders shows, the Grand National championships, and the Horse of the Year show later this season. To date, his results have been:

  • Timaru A&P:
    • Champion Led Hack & Hunter
    • 1st 2yo class
  • SI Warmblood Show
    • Supreme Champion Overall
    • Champion Led Youngstock
    • Won 2yo class
His success at the South Island Warmblood Show helped Caithness Stud to win the prize for most points (members) at the show.

July, 2004

Congratulations to all who showed Caithness progeny in the past season. Of our own show team, Caithness Concierto stormed onto the show scene, taking several championship awards as well as Supreme Champion Warmblood at the Canterbury Breeders Show, and Champion led hack at the NZ Grand National Championship Show 2004.
