Advocate
[Fame Maker R x Mulawa Aria]
Bred by Mulawa Arabian Stud, Australia
Advocate is a stunningly beautiful grey stallion about 15hh. He has a lovely head and neck and a good body which he passes on to his foals. He also passes on good legs and feet. I was impressed when I heard that John and Robyn Lewellyn had imported this horse, but more impressed when I saw him and some of his progeny. He has such a beautiful, head, with a good body, and strong quarters and fantastic movement with straight action. He has short canons and good legs and a wonderful way of calling when he sees you coming. His foals at Aspen Hill are very fast learners and easy to handle mostly inheriting his straight action, powerful hind end, lovely head and neck and good feet. He is 3/8 Spanish, over half Polish and the rest American, largely of the best Crabbet origin (Indaia, Gulastra, Abu Zeyd, Rijm, Raseyn, Ferseyn, Bint Sahara). Our oldest foals are rising three so have a little time before we see them under saddle.
Mulawa Arabian Stud describe Advocate as a beautiful horse, bred to breed on. And of his sire, Fame Maker R, they say:
*FAME MAKER R came to Mulawa from the United States in 1996, a son of US National Champion Stallion Fame VF. Upon his arrival *FAME MAKER R created a whirl wind force seldom seen in the Australian show world, capturing the prestigious East Coast Championships, Victorian Classic, and Australian National Champion Stallion titles in quick succession. Shown by Greg Farrell FAME MAKER produced a breathtaking and unforgettable array of masculine Arabian qualities each time out. A stallion of outstanding natural brilliance and flamboyance, every time *FAME MAKER R steps out of his pasture it's show time.
Fame Maker R is by Fame VF, one of America's top sires. He is the sire of Esteem (the sire of Esteema the first ever Triple Crown filly in the EU), Versace, Little Liza Fame, Showkayce, Desert heat VF and many others too numerous to name. Versace is a super show horse in the US and has sired two of the very top show horses in the States right now, Odyssey SC and DA Valentino. Fame Maker R is a ¾ brother to Versace. Little Liza Fame is the dam of Marwan al Shaqab another top show horse, considered to be an improvement on his famous sire Gazal Al Shaqab.
Showkayce has also bred on a dynasty of his own, and his stock are proving to be outstanding ridden horses. He was third on the US list of sires of winners in hand and in performance in the 2007 Sport horse statistics among a list of outstanding sport horse sires such as AM Good Ole Boy, Hucks Legacy, First Cyte and other American greats. In 2008 the leading American sires of performance and halter horses combined were:
- Magnum Psyche (Padrons Psyche x A Fancy Miracle) 33
- Afire Bey V (Huckleberry Bey x Autumn Fire) 32
- Padrons Psyche (Padron x Kilika) 20
- Enzo (Padrons Psyche x RD Bey Shahmpane) 19
Versace (Fame VF x Precious As Gold) (deceased) 19
Afire Bey V, Enzo and Versace are bred along performance lines and have a lot in common with the Fame VF horses.
Fame VF is a full brother to Rave VF who sired Bremervale Justice. By crossing Advocate with Rayjan Shania, we hope to product another champion like Justice with their similar pedigrees. Rave VF is also the sire of Bremervale Legacy who sired PineLodge Mississippi, third in the NZ National 160km Endurance ride at his first attempt.
Fame Maker's dam has the very best of Spanish breeding, tracing back to the legendary Shahzada who was imported into Australia and thus providing a link with our own existing bloodlines. The Spanish Arabians were used by the Military and tended to be very well put together, as well as having stamina and good riding qualities. A purebred Arabian bred in Spain won their National Eventing Championship a few years ago, showing their versatility. Fame Maker is bred along similar lines to the popular European sire, WH Justice, who is a great show horse plus breeding very well.
Fame Maker R has sired a multitude of champions himself, including Gold n Wings, Flame Maker, Makers Mark, Fames Harmony, Fames Presence, Precidence, Angel of Fame, Claim to Fame. His grand daughters and and grand sons also have many show credits to their names.
Advocate's dam is Mulawa Aria. She is by Arrival, who was a lookalike son of *Ambition and a stallion of wonderful temperament and manners. He had limited opportunity at Stud and his daughters are now highly desired. His offspring won at National level in both halter and performance classes. Some of his successful offspring are Aprimadonna, Artist, Rosette, A Magic Moment, Approval. Ambition was the most successful son of the mighty Bask to be imported into Australia.
Arrival was half brother to our beautiful mare, M Eternity.
Apart from Advocate, who is an East Coast Reserve Champion, Aria has produced a world-class filly by Parkview Audacious, Audacia, who is an East Coast Champion.
Aria's dam is the wonderful Karmaa, such a successful broodmare. She is the dam of so many beautiful horses for Mulawa, Mae Marie, Karisma, Klass, Mulawa Marietta, Kara Mia Mi, Maker's Mark. It is no wonder she is so revered. Karmaa is a mare of judicious American breeding, mixing the Spanish lines with Polish and very American bloodlines. She has all the beauty of Nabor, Kaborr, Fadjur, AN Malik, AN Marietta and a long list of fabled ancestors.
Advocate's heritage is full of top halter champions, but we selected him because of his performance potential. His ancestors and close relations are found to be very successful in English Pleasure, Hunter, Western, eventing, endurance and dressage.
We have not yet showed any of our foals by Advocate, the oldest are now rising three. One of my favourites is Aspen Hills Mir, who is from the Cyden Sun mare, Relko Jaffa. She is a tall girl with a lovely gentle nature. Aspen Hills Silver Cascade is growing into a gorgeous grey two year old, she is also a sweet natured filly. Aspen Hills Sihra from Dell Nahseeta is a very compact and stunning moving weanling. Of the boys, Aspen Hills Xan, out of a Wind n Fire mare has astounded all by growing to nearly 15.1hh as a two year old, he has a wonderful head and shoulder, obviously the line breeding to AN Malik worked. AH Shades of Night is a really strong, well grounded nearly black gelding out of a Shalom La Ish mare, he moves very well and is also very quiet natured, though quite stroppy and will go well in endurance. Aspen Hills Arbiteur is a very pretty weanling gelding who also lights up the world when he moves and flashes those big black eyes. Aspen Hills Karma is out of a Redwood Lodge Firewalker mare - a real "chocolate box colour", tan, black and white. He will be a lovely show horse.
