Thumbelina takes a break - it's hard work being a celebrity.
The owners of the world's smallest horse have plans to use the horse to raise $1US million for children's charities this year.

Thumbelina, aged 5, stands just 43cm tall at her withers, and weighs just 26kg. She is named after the tiny star of a Hans Christian Andersen fairytale.

Handler Michael Goessling, who is a son of miniature horse farmers Kay and Paul Goessling, says the wee horse is great with people and loves attention.

The plan is to have the horse tour the United States in a recreational vehicle which is fitted out as her stable.

A charitable foundation in Thumbelina's name has already raised $US10,000 for children's causes.
