Bronze tribute to Secretariat to be unveiled

March 14, 2006

A bronze statue of famous American racehorse Secretariat will be unveiled in Lexington, Kentucky, on April 8.

Secretariat's owner, Penny Chenery, will dedicate the statue at the Kentucky Horse Park.

The work is by renowned sculptor Edwin Bogucki. Secretariat's jockey, Ron Turcotte, is also expected to attend the unveiling.

The statue is ringed by pavers that feature tributes from fans of the horse. Secretariat was a two-time Horse of the Year, and in 1973 won the Triple Crown, including a remarkable 31-length win against a quality field.
