A murder inquiry is under way in Britain after the discovery of a woman’s body in a field in New Forest, Hampshire.
Hampshire police believe the woman had been tending to her horse in a field near the village of Beaulieu when she died on Tuesday afternoon.
Her name and other details have yet to be released.
Police were called shortly before 5pm and are working to establish what happened at the scene. Officers say they are treating her death as suspicious, and are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.
Police confirmed they had increased patrols in the area.
“We are treating the discovery of a woman’s body in Beaulieu as murder,” Detective Superintendent Paul Barton said.
“I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area of Lyndhurst Road, Beaulieu, on Tuesday, September 2 between 2pm and 5pm to contact us.
“We will be increasing our patrols in the area but I want to remind the community that crimes of this nature are extremely rare.”
