Leading Australian racemare Black Caviar is a lady in waiting.
The champion mare – safely hidden away in a secret location in New South Wales – is only days away from the due date for her first foal, by Darley stallion Exceed and Excel. It is not known whether the foal, due on September 11, is a filly or a colt.
Despite having retired from racing more than a year ago, Black Caviar remains in the public eye, with a new logo featuring a likeness of the mare created as part of a rebranding plan by Racing Victoria.
Taken from a photograph by Jono Searle of Black Caviar and jockey Luke Nolen winning the 2013 BTC Cup, the logo is part of Racing Victoria’s push to modernise and simplify the presentation of the sport. The brand is known simply as “Racing”, and a new website is being launched this month. The domain name – racing.com – was bought from a US based domain reseller for an undisclosed fee.
